Identity fields
Check the producer, order, certificate number, heat, plate ID, dimensions, quantity and delivery condition. Confirm that the named standard and revision match the purchase requirement. A packing list and a material test certificate have different purposes.
Results and scope
Review chemical analysis, tensile results, elongation gauge length and impact temperature, size and orientation. Locate supplementary tests such as ultrasonic or through-thickness testing where ordered. Missing results require clarification rather than assumptions.
Authenticity and traceability
Use the issuer’s verification route where available and preserve the original digital document. If a stockholder cuts a plate, require a marking-transfer and parent-plate record. A declaration of EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 does not by itself prove the separately required class acceptance.

- Exact product standard and edition; approved drawing or specification revision.
- Grade, dimensions, final condition and heat-to-piece traceability.
- Acceptance test, inspection document and responsible approving party.
Frequently asked questions
Can a certificate be issued after traceability is lost?
A document cannot recreate physical identity without acceptable supporting evidence. Escalate the material to the responsible inspector.
