EN 10207 Grade P275SL normalized or normalized formed (+N)
EN 10207 Grade P275SL is a low-alloyed steel plate with elevated temperature properties. It belongs to the EN 10207 standard, which specifies the technical delivery conditions for steels for simple pressure vessels.
P275SL steel is primarily used in the fabrication of simple pressure vessels, such as storage tanks or boilers. It offers good weldability and high temperature resistance, making it suitable for applications where elevated temperatures and moderate pressures are involved.
According to the EN 10207 standard, Grade P275SL has specific requirements for chemical composition and mechanical properties. The chemical composition includes elements such as carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), and other alloying elements. These elements are controlled within specified limits to ensure the desired properties of the steel.
In terms of mechanical properties, P275SL must meet criteria for yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, and impact energy absorption. These properties determine the material's ability to withstand pressure and maintain its structural integrity under elevated temperatures.
EN 10207 Grade P275SL is a low-alloyed steel plate designed for use in simple pressure vessels operating at elevated temperatures. It provides good weldability, high temperature resistance, and reliable mechanical properties, making it suitable for various industrial applications.
EN 10207 Grade P275SL can be supplied in two different conditions: normalized or normalized formed (+N).
Normalized: This condition refers to the steel being subjected to a controlled heating and cooling process to achieve uniform properties throughout the material. It involves heating the steel above its critical temperature, holding it at that temperature for a specific time, and then allowing it to cool in still air. Normalizing improves the mechanical properties of the steel, such as strength and toughness.
Normalized formed (+N): This condition indicates that the steel has undergone a forming process after normalization. The forming process could involve shaping, bending, or any other method of altering the steel's shape. After the forming process, the steel is again subjected to normalization to restore its desired properties.
EN 10207 Grade P275SL can be supplied either in a normalized condition or in a normalized formed (+N) condition, depending on the specific requirements of the application.
The non-alloy special steel P275SL is used for simple pressure vessels in the form of normalised or normalising rolled plates, strips and bars.
According the directive 87/404/EEC simple pressure vessels are defined as:
- every welded, cylindrical vessel with convex and/or flat bottoms made of unalloyed steel with internal pressures between min. 0.5 bar and max. 30 bar, used for air and nitrogen, not exposed to flames
- the product of pressure and capacity amounts to max. 10000 bar*l
